Solar Mining Simulator

Multi-objective optimization for off-grid mining

A simulation environment for off-grid solar mining that exists to test control strategies before they are trusted with real hardware and battery systems.

This is research infrastructure, not just a GUI. The point is to model competing constraints honestly: solar variability, storage health, ASIC efficiency, and controller behavior under real operating conditions.

Primary outcome
A research tool for testing controller strategies before they are trusted with live solar, battery, and miner infrastructure.
5
Optimization Goals
Solar use, profitability, battery protection, miner protection, and system stability.
Pluggable
Controller Model
New strategies can be swapped in and evaluated without rewriting the simulator.
GUI
Realtime Surface
A PySide6 interface makes controller behavior visible rather than abstract.
R&D
Product Role
A controlled environment for testing ideas before they hit production energy systems.
Why simulate

Energy systems punish bad guesses

A controller that looks good on paper can still thrash hardware, abuse batteries, or miss profitability windows in the real world.

What it proves

We can build model-driven systems

This project broadens the portfolio by showing research and control-system thinking tied directly to a commercial energy problem.

Site role

A strong energy R&D case study

It complements Luxium Energy by showing the model and control thinking behind the marketing and monitoring layer.

System model

The simulator encodes the actual tradeoffs

The model includes solar generation, battery state, miner power curves, and supporting load so controller decisions can be judged against real constraints.

Battery flow and degradation considerations
Cloud cover and day-night generation variability
ASIC efficiency changes under different power levels
Infrastructure load included in the control problem
Energy Research

Controller design

Experimentation without hardware risk

Controllers are meant to be written, swapped, and compared quickly so the product team can learn before moving ideas into a live system.

Baseline strategies

Simple control heuristics establish a floor so more advanced approaches can be judged honestly.

Predictive strategies

The simulator supports more forward-looking control approaches without pretending the environment is perfectly knowable.
